Can't identify this metal Link

Hi All,

I have a Link STM 5 that I'm having trouble identifying.

It has the quotes around "Super" like an EB or a Florida but the number is on the shank like a modern Link.

It blows great (albeit a little too small for me) - I just want to know what it is - can anybody help me?

Some call these the "transitional" link or the true Early Babbitt since it was made around 1980 and is usually longer or thicker than the standard link of the last 30 years. There is a small market for them. Look on Theo Wanne's site for some more info on them. I have had a few that were quite good.

While I think there are transitional EB links, I think it's very hard to tell one from just a regular Babbitt link. Longer shank usually is the indicator as well as quotes. But they stopped using the quotes simply because the stamping got worn out, not to denote a different model.
