Our community band is in need of a set of timpani, and of course, our budget is quite limited; we can't really afford $10,000 for a set of new timpani.

One of our committee asked if we could look at Chinese options.

Does anyone have experience of Chinese timpani? Are there any worth looking at, or should we be using the proverbial ten-foot barge pole?
