Cant imagine the market for lightweight saxes would be large enough to cover the development costs, never mind the material costs.

Titanium keywork would be cool though, lighter would probably translate to faster response?

I doubt it would make a significant difference. Springs already return the keys faster than fingers can move.

Actually, "let's tend our gardens" at the end of Candide is ironic, isn't it, from what I remember? My understanding was that Voltaire only believed in "minding your own business" in clearly defined circumstances. Foreign policy, for example.

without going political.......... a lot of people ( and Nations) in Voltaire’s time or later, believed in isolationism only to find out that whatever you think of yourself you might be painfully reminded of the world around you, whether you like it or not.

The reference to Cincinnatus is of the same nature.

You can get out and stay out of the problems until the problems come seeking you. Then you have two ways to answer one is hiding and wait until it passes away (doesn’t always work) the other one is “ doing the right thing” and play your part.

See this is what I call good conversation.

I think the obvious interpretation of that would be to imply "the Roman fleet is more important than life". So it's a simple (minded) patriotism along the lines of "dulce et decorum est pro patria mori". I think you must be understanding it more broadly though, milandro?

I think the interpretation of Navigare est necesse, vivere non est necesse is more something like that the duty towards the things you stand for is more important than anything else and you stick to the given word (or your convictions) regardless of the hurdles.

So......... one could be saying , I don’t care about the world and Isolate himself in the country , tending a garden, but it comes a point in which your sense of service and duty are called upon and you have to act and take responsibility even if you would have been otherwise reluctant to be in the action and the public eye.

True that humans might be caught in the turmoil of the events that are always bigger than us but anyone can mostly (albeit not always) choose the way you face the events. You can hide, you can be supine or you can stand up and be counted (obtorto collo perhaps!)

The motto “ Navigare Necesse est vivere non est necesse “ was ALSO used by Gabriele d’Annunzio (an Italian Poet and self proclaimed war and regime hero.....) but to my knowledge wasn’t used by Mussolini......although he famously used other people’s saying like: "It is better to live one day as a lion than a hundred years as a sheep.”...........but lots of people who talk of honour have none..........gotta talk the talk , walk the walk .....but do the deeds to back up what you say is more important.

I'm glad you referenced the second half of that Virgil quote through the Dante, milandro. That is actually quite important.
