I've got an original Mark VI neck octave key or sling. Without the neck.
How much is it worth?
I've seen while necks going for $800 on eBay.
So I'm assuming I can get around $300 for just the octave key?

Selmer Mark VI Alto. Beechler Bellite #8. Fibracell #2.5
Selmer Mark VI Soprano. Selmer Soloist 'H'. Alexander NY #3
I would think that a later key should fit a VI neck. If so, $50? The value of the VI neck is in the tube and not really the lever. You can always put it on ebay for $300 and see what happens!
I think you are being overly optimistic, but there is one born everyday and there would definitely be someone whom would go great lengths to have an S on his octave sling. Good luck! The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
One just sold on ebay UK last week for £33 GBP (approx $50 US)
No product to sell, no axe to grind....
Maybe if someone happened to lose their octave key and they are crazy and losing their mind trying to get an original, maybe they'll pay that much. But it is extremely unlikely. In general there is no way it would get anywhere close to 37.5% of the total price of the neck. I would say the key would normally cost around 5%-10% of the total price of the neck. Maybe up to 20% if the buyer is truely desperate ($300 would be a whole other level of desperate).
Hmm alto or tenor? If it's alto I might be interested.
They don't get lost, they get broken.
Please send me PM if you still want to sell the key.
