    Soul Train was the show back in the day.

    Yes it was. Bands played live on Soul Train in the early days. James Brown, Junior Walker, Tower of Power, they all played Soul Train. Aretha, Gladys, and Curtis sang. Big Afro's with combs sticking out, platform shoes with bell bottoms, do the bump and a killer line dance. Those were the days.
