Hi Nigel. If you think playing something from memory is difficult whilst in the comfy confines of your practice area...try sitting out on your front verandah...or your back porch if you have lot's of neighbors.
This is something that still drives me mental. I can do this at home, so why is it so difficult here? It's learning to be comfortable outside of your comfort zone. Something I'm personally striving for and yes, I have noticed a marked improvement...slowly.
eldavo: I like the way you're thinking buddy but yes, I have a pack of miniature laminated (back to back) charts expressly made for such a purpose, but damn!!! my eyes are now 50 years old
    cheers, Mark.

Congrats, mine are too (since 12 days) ! I'm a bad reader, so the quality of my eyes doesn't make much difference in reading sheet music .

Am I the senior citizen here at 52?

Mike - Sounds nice and clear (what I am after) do you credit that to the Focusrite Scarlett 8i6? Maybe I need to get me one.

+3 on that Mike. and it was the first thing that got played back on my brand new 'SoundKing' Powered speaker.
Played another 'engagement party' on Sunday and discovered that playing acoustically with sax with about 80-100 people present is a recipe for being completely drowned out. Hence another round of GAS.
    cheers, Mark.

Looks great Nigel. Unfortunately I have this one.
Testing out at home with the inverter/battery seems so much better than my previous setup. I also got the heavy-duty stand for it.
BTW. I realise that I'm actually 51...lying about my age already

Thanks for the compliments guys To be honest, I wasn`t that impressed with it. I thought the midi I got pitched me too high (and too advanced lol) and I still have lots of working out and understanding to do with my gear. Oh and for all the money Ive spent, my chops are no better lol

I want to spend tons of time on it now but I`m not getting the chance. My home life has changed and I have more stuff to do. Also, I`ve been fixing my transport up. Immediately prior to Walking in the Air I was Replacing the Brake Caliper on my camper van. Then the groceries were delivered so I had to fit it all in. I know... such is life.

Well, I`m not crying off. No-one got anything done by whinging lol what tune`s next?

I found this cool video on YouTube of Boots Randolph in a casual setting doing some overdubbing on a tune. Thought some here might like it as well:
