I don't know why, but I've always been turned off by cutesy names that try to incorporate the word "sax" into other words like "Saxsational", etc... While the attempt at creativity is apparent, names like that always seem uninspired to me and leave me feeling like it was made up by a bunch of school kids. It's difficult for me to take groups with names like that very seriously. Nothing against school kids...but if a "very formal name" is what you're after...(as stated by the OP)...especially for a classical quartet, I would stay away from the cutesy sax wordplay.

How about "Saxophonics" or "Saxophonia" or even "Sax Symphonia" hmmm? Not cutsey but still using the sax root in the name. Then, of course, you could incorporate the classical aspect of your quartet and just call yourselves "Classical Sax!"
