Aida Reed 2

Has anyone here played The englishhorn/oboe book, aka reed 2, for Aida?
I have just won the audition at my highschool for the book but the music isn't coming for about a month.. I am generally not an oboe player (I play bassoon in concert band, sax in jazzband, contrabass in clarinet choir, and flute in flute choir). I have never performed on oboe and english horn.
Is the music rather difficult?
Is there a lot of playing time?
Tips on what I should be practicing to prepare for the book?

Not a lot of extreme difficult playing - but EVERYTHING is exposed.

It's not really a challenge if you ask me, but there's not much room to hide anything. Being that you aren't mainly an oboe or english horn player, you might want to take some extra time to get these animals under control.

If I had just gotten a gig on two instruments I had never played in performance, I would spend the next month playing long tones and scales EVERY DAY--you need to get your chops in shape. I would also talk to anyone I could find who plays these horns and ask them to help you review fingerings and embouchure--it's amazing how much valuable information you can get from someone in a half hour. Also, ask your music department if you can borrow some EH and oboe parts to other pieces just to play them so you can get familiar with how they're written for.

I play all the double reeds and can assure you that bassoon has absolutely nothing in common with oboe and English horn. You best get cracking.
