It's high time those of us who play classical music on saxophone put our talents on display. There's a very active thread in Misc. Saxophone Discussion where people post clips of themselves - it's one of the busiest areas on this board, other than the buy/sell postings.
I'm starting this thread because I'm personally interested in hearing what other participants in this area sound like.
The only thing that I ask of you is this: if you're going to take part here, be prepared to post. I've got no time for armchair critics.
Here's the first movement of the Albinoni Sonata St. Marc on soprano with piano accompaniment.
Last piece of Eastman Saxophone Project's Halloween concert. We went all out for Halloween! This ensemble is basically everyone in the Eastman classical/contemporary studio
Okay so I've never posted recordings to this thread. Thought I'd give it a shot and share a few pieces from a recital earlier this month at Mars Hill College:
Eastman Saxophone Project had another concert recently. We posted the entire concert(minus the soprano introduction fanfare): Bach's Great Fugue, A collection of Debussy Preludes, Prokofiev's Classical Symphony and Devil's Rag featuring two tap dancers.
Hi Guys! I'm new to the forum and I saw this thread and thought I'd check it out. Great playing by all of you!!! Here's one of me playing the Noda Improvisation I (there's no video; my dad bootlegged it during a student recital at school with his iPhone).
Great playing by all! Here's my version of the Noda Improvisation I (there's no video b/c my dad bootlegged it with his iPhone during a student recital). Not the best out there but I hope you enjoy!
My good friend Eddie Jennings sent me this recording that was made in 1976 of me on my main instrument, tenor. I was a sophomore and my teacher, Dr. Ronald Attinger, had given me Caprice en Forme de Valse and said, "learn it". Next thing I know he has me playing it in front of real people! Dr. Attinger took the sax choir and quartets on recruiting excursions on a fairly regular basis. My wife just heard this piece for the first time last night and she loved it. It's ok - a few mistakes.
While rummaging through old recordings, I came across my junior recital cd from 2004. Here's the 3rd mvt. from Stephen Dankner's Sonata with the wonderful Lois Leventhal on piano.
Here's my first recording that I dare post to this august forum. I like the "music" I've made. I do hope to become more technically proficient, like the 15 year olds at the recital who play 16ths at 120 bpm flawlessly. Oh well...
The link is all 4 movements of Handel's Concerto #8 in Bb for Oboe. On the same page are the 4 individual movements if you'd like to hear them separately instead.
I look forward to your comments.
Oh, gearwise; 1925 Buescher C-Mel, Morgan C-5 mpc, Rigotti Gold 2.5, Rovner Light lig, Me
