It's high time those of us who play classical music on saxophone put our talents on display. There's a very active thread in Misc. Saxophone Discussion where people post clips of themselves - it's one of the busiest areas on this board, other than the buy/sell postings.
I'm starting this thread because I'm personally interested in hearing what other participants in this area sound like.
The only thing that I ask of you is this: if you're going to take part here, be prepared to post. I've got no time for armchair critics.
Here's the first movement of the Albinoni Sonata St. Marc on soprano with piano accompaniment.
Just released on Carrier Records, Inhyun Kim's Saxophone Quartet. This work was written in 2007 and the Manhattan Saxophone Quartet has done the premiere recording. An MP3 for the 3rd movement just got posted today (it's the one on the compilation CD). Go listen here for free:
Not sure if it's appropriate, but since we're in a very small town in the middle of Newfoundland, it's hard for my kid to get feedback from any sax players, especially since she is seriously thinking about classical sax as a career option. She'd appreciate any advice over at youtube:
Here are some excerpts from "Prelude, Cadence, et Finale" by Alfred Desenclos. This is one of my favorite pieces to play. I originally recorded this for an audition. http://www.soundclick.com/jackliclassicalsaxophone
Mana Quartet just premiered a new piece by Alan Theisen and Sarah Zipperer Gaskins. They were composed to be played after one another and stem from the same raw material. There was a lecture given with the premiere but only the actual performance is available now on YouTube.

Just did 2 things:
1) Joined myspace
2) Uploaded my recording with the Ohio State Symphony Orchestra playing Legende by Florent Schmitt.
I just posted a recording of a new piece for solo tenor saxophone by Samuel Andreyev.
This is a recording of the premiere given in Annecy, France a couple of weeks ago.
Hi! We are 'Saxtandem', a saxophone duo from Spain formed by Javier Ruiz and David Grijalba. They met each other under the teaching of Éric Devallon (Quatuor Diastema) and decided to form this group with the aim to do saxophone duos more usuals in the musical world.

My quartet just did an informal recording of David Noon's Saxophone Quartet. You can view it along with several other recordings of myself, including Denisov's Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Cello
Wow…love the sound of baritone saxophone and bass clarinet! Just dropped into this thread for the first time and am very impressed with that piece as well as the other clips on this page (which I see is page number 25!). Guess I have some serious listening to do…thanks…
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
