It's high time those of us who play classical music on saxophone put our talents on display. There's a very active thread in Misc. Saxophone Discussion where people post clips of themselves - it's one of the busiest areas on this board, other than the buy/sell postings.
I'm starting this thread because I'm personally interested in hearing what other participants in this area sound like.
The only thing that I ask of you is this: if you're going to take part here, be prepared to post. I've got no time for armchair critics.
Here's the first movement of the Albinoni Sonata St. Marc on soprano with piano accompaniment.
ALSO, we just recently updated www.redlinesax.com with recent audio tracks from our performance in the Fischoff Grand Finals round this past spring. Drop us an email, we'd love to hear from you!
A good friend of mine named Dale McElhone and I just played an all-Bach recital consisting of 2 voice keyboard pieces from the Inventions, French Suites, Partitas, and Well-Tempered Clavier.
There are 36 videos uploaded on youtube, all about a minute and a half each (some more or less). Many thanks to Dale for transcribing, programming, and uploading this concert!
I'm a (mainly!) classical saxophonist and proud of it!
Here's me playing soprano sax; http://www.reverbnation.com/keridegg
All the pieces here are my own and you'll need to click on 'Living life, Troubled times, and flying free' tracks to hear the sop piece.
Ok, why not. I had this on facebook... may as well post it on here to open it up for more critiquing. We played this last night at UCLA. Im happy overall with how we did, but definitely welcome all suggestions and opinions.
This is me playing the Glazunov Concerto at a Concerto/Aria competition. I will be playing it with the symphony in a month and I'm open to any comments or feedback!
I'll post up a few vids on YouTube eventually as well. Any feedback is welcome!
If anyone can't access them and would like to, let me know and I'll send you the direct links to the audio file. I just didn't want to post the note on here since it contains a ton of links and want to avoid spamming the board
Now that note should be public.... forgot to turn off privacy settings!
Wow! I am in awe. Really, very nice playing. Outstanding.
I'll be posting my stuff up from my Sr. Undergrad recital in the next few days. I too also had some $#@& happen during my performance. It's nice to hear that the fine musicians at Eastman, such as yourself, still have $#@& happen during their performances like I do. Part of the life I guess.
I have just realized that what I said may have been insulting to you. It was not my intention to do so. Please forgive me. I meant no disrespect. You are a fine saxophonist. I hope to be as good as you are when I get my DMA.
Here it is. The Aria and the Lunde Sonata are the old stuff. Everything else is from the recital. Please keep in mind that I am a Music Ed. major who wants to get an MM in performance.
Here is a clip of my friends and I playing mvt2 and 3 from Russell Peterson's "Trio for Alto Saxophone, Violin, and Piano". He had loads fun putting this together and performing it!
Movement II -
Movement III -
we dont start playing in the second video until about 40 seconds in (I didnt upload these. ha) but you are welcome to watch me adjust my horn and drink some water during those first moments.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
