It's high time those of us who play classical music on saxophone put our talents on display. There's a very active thread in Misc. Saxophone Discussion where people post clips of themselves - it's one of the busiest areas on this board, other than the buy/sell postings.
I'm starting this thread because I'm personally interested in hearing what other participants in this area sound like.
The only thing that I ask of you is this: if you're going to take part here, be prepared to post. I've got no time for armchair critics.
Here's the first movement of the Albinoni Sonata St. Marc on soprano with piano accompaniment.
This is me playing the Glazounov(well a big chunk of it since I can't upload more than 10 minutes of a single piece) with the NAU Wind Symphony during a concert we did in Dresden, Germany.
This is the band arrangement of the Glaz done by Joseph Kreines for those that have asked about it.
Side note: the reason I didn't play this memorized was because I found out 1-2 weeks beforehand.
Other side note: yes there were people there, the video just shows the front rows which were empty. I wouldn't want to sit that close in a concert anyways.
I still do play on a Keilwerth sx90r gold nickel with a rascher mouthpiece. Although I play on a different rascher mouthpiece now than I did for that concert. I think the tip I played for the concert was a .069 but the one I play on now is a .070
I also posted up on my youtube account the second half, in case anyone was wondering. Yes I know I hung over on that last altissimo C, oops .

I don't really think it does. I'd say moreso the chamber affects altissimo..... I used to know more at one point in time but I can't think right now :/. Anyone else?
March 2, 2008 performance of John Fitz Rogers' The Rivers for solo alto saxophone and wind ensemble, recorded with the Drake Wind Symphony.
This is the first movement, Eridanus: The River of Stars
Here is the second movement, Lethe: The River of Forgetfulness
And the last movement, Phletethon: The River of Fire

I just had my first 30min. recital on Sunday. It went great. Please watch them and let me know what you think. I would really appreciate some good comments. By the way, on my youtube page, the videos labeled Aria and the Rumba don't work. The ones that I did on my recital have the composer in the title. I should probably mention as well that my school isn't very rich so... the video isn't of the best possible quality, but the sound is fine. Thanks. Listen if you dare.
My concert order was as follows:
Sonata No. 3 by Handel
Aria by Bozza
Improv. et Caprice by Bozza
Scaramouche by Milhaud
Rumba by Whitney
Sorry guys. I'm having some difficulty with youtube. None of my videos, except the Aria, uploaded with the sound. The only one that I could to work was the Aria. Please check out my page and let me know what you think. I will keep trying to upload them all.
New recording of Steve Galante's Diminishing Returns from my friend's recital last Thursday. Couple of screwy things (sorry about the D#! haha) but that's how it goes!
I finally have this posting dilemma figured out. I know it's not perfect, and you'll have to excuse the piano(Texas weather..it snowed 2 days before then went right back to sunny 72. You can imagine what that would do to a piano.). Please give me feedback. I'll post again on this thread after I get the rest up there. Thanks. See Signature.
Altogether very nice playing, Chris, but then again I have always been impressed! I wish I had a pianist to work with at this point. Damn being out of school!!!
I'm a bit apprehensive about posting here, because I only play original compositions. Also, I'm trained in improvised music, and although I haven't played this music for many years, it certainly has an influence on my sound and approach.
Anyway, listen for yourself.
