Are Vandoren V16 metal mouthpieces the same(internally) as the ebonite versions?

Nope. They're more like a really bright STM, whereas the rubber ones are like a bright tone edge.

You mean like really bright current STM's right? Florida and EB STM's can be quite bright, depending on the piece, with many being brighter than V16's from my experience....

Yeah. I don't have the bread for vintage STMs so my experience is with modern ones.

They rubber pieces and the metal ones are different animals. The metal piece has what I would describe as medium chamber with squared off side walls. Brighter than the Links I've tried an d other Link-like pieces. Also a little more inherent focus.
