I will be at the Madalay Bay in Las Vegas. It is going to be a huge show and yes it will be very hot. I will be using fibercels so I don't warp my good cane reeds. I will be playing alto and tenor so I need to be sure that the horn is good to go when I pick it up.

I will be. Gonna be pretty toasty down here... Unfortunately I'm playing double reeds too, and don't have a plastic bassoon... I'm praying I can find one, don't want to take my Puchner out in that sun.

I'll be on the back of a flatbed for the parade in the morning and that evening the same band, plus a few guests, will be down at the fish pier before the fireworks. The flatbed experience is usually sweltering (and punctuated by sudden stops and lurches) and when the sea breeze kicks in down at the pier it can get pretty chilly. Last year it must've been in the 50's with a damp wind off the water which condensed all over the body of my horn. Grrrr!

Vito (Beaugnier) Baritone/HR Berg 105/1/M
Buffet Greenline Clarinet; Yamaha 221-II Bass Clarinet
I'll trade ya a windy 50's and chilly, for close to 100 on a windless day on a North GA lake
I guess at least I can jump in the lake....
Not this year I'm afraid.... Last summer a guy I know landed me a sweet gig, got paid 250 bucks for 3 hours! On top of that, I wasn't even playing sax, I was playing chord changes on piano because this guy is the REAL sax player
Not me!
I'll be having a nice quiet weenie roast with my daughters, and watching fireworks.
My outdoor gig comes in late August in the form of a small community "Bridge Fest".
Then I'll be sweating under my bari harness.

I used to ride on a float with a bunch of old-timers for a local 4th of July parade. Though we'd only get paid in popsicles at the end of the run, I used to enjoy getting dressed up for that celebration and felt a bit honored they'd have me along every year. They haven't ran that float in a few years now, so now my father rooks me into playing at his neighborhood celebration... which is not nearly the same amount of fun. Now our dixieland band always plays a posh club the night before, and while my father is writing out the checks to each of the guys, he'll ask them if they'll be there the next morning to help him out. All I can say is... hope for rain that morning.
Have a paying job with Yofis on the night of the 4th, but not outdoors. Looking forward to that one. It's a place we play regularly and it's right on the route where half the town goes to watch the local fireworks. So we might get a decent crowd stopping in to avoid the wait in traffic when the fireworks are done. Plus, the next day is Sunday.
I'll be playing bari that evening with the Municipal Band on the west bank of the Mississippi River in beautiful St. Cloud, Minnesota for the most mosquito ridden fireworks display in the upper Midwest. The traffic in/out of the area takes at least an hour to get through, the crowds are literally in the thousands, but the post-performance rehydration generally makes it all seem worth while.![]()

Nothing worse than poolside 4th of july on the Mississippi gulf coast, with the possible exception of Vietnam
Is there something special in the 4th of July???![]()
Why not the 1st of July instead? This is Canada Day!![]()

The 13 piece funk band (3 vocalists, 2 keys, guitar, bass, drums, and 5 horns will be at the local minor league baseball stadium before the game, and a short set after the game before the fireworks. I won't worry about reeds warping, as the horn never leaves my mouth in this band. Good luck to you all.

Not me. I'll be in Britain.

I'll be outside, but this is the San Francisco Bay Area so it will probably be chilly. I'll hope for warm. I hate playing outdoors -- sound gets totally screwed up.
The Martin "Official Music Man" tenor, Barone black tenor, The Martin baritone, Richards Martin Indiana alto, cheap Chinese soprano, Metalite mouthpieces, Plasticover reeds, Nord Electro 2, bunch of other instruments
Wall Of Blues, youtube video, P-Town All-Stars, get Rich, Cannons (my band in the 60's) and Cannons record
anyone have any swing versions of Stars and Stripes Forever or Yankee Doodle Dandy?
We have one our keyboard/flugelhorn player did for Stars and Stripes for the dixieland thing we do. Ask him for it.
Appropriately enough, I'll be playing bari with the Spirit of Independence Concert Band during the fireworks display near the town square in Independence, Mo.
