Public Domain Songs?

I know that songs publish before 1923 are public domain, but are there any other songs out there that have slipped into public domain? Does any one know of any songs that have been released into public domain prematurely.

Also, anyone have a list of standards that fall into the Public Domain?

Well, the most famous one is probably Rockin' Robin. But, most standards and pop songs are zealously protected by their publishers.

Sometimes a writer may purposely put a song in public domain for ideological reasons. Paul Stokey (Peter Paul and Mary) put "Wedding Song" in the public domain because he wanted it freely out there and used.
