Wow! We must be living in parallel universes. I have an 82Z UL Tenor after being a Mk VI guy (3 over the years). I also play an RPC (115) and use RJS (2M).
I just brought an 82Z UL w/o F# home with me today from WWBW. I'm loving it! I played it against a Ref 36, both nice, but I preferred the Z and not just because of the price tag!
YTS-82Z UL w/o f#
Tenney Jazzmaster 8
Alexander NY 2 1/2, or Superials 2 1/2 - 3
Selmer two-screw lig or bare brass Selmer Magnitone copy (actually a great lig)
I loved my Z tenor but just left the club for a Mauriat 66RUL tenor and both are outstanding beast's with there own thing going on but this is my 2nd 66R and love there sound atad more.
Hey ..tenor2toes1...i also owned a 66r..great horns..I've 5x5 hands...wide hand short fingers..i found the 66r to great a reach in the lower stack and lowBb..same with the sx90r that i owned.

Took my baby to the doctor today...She's in for some palm key tuning corrections... a leaky G...D low B and Bb...and a bell to bow solder and repair of a slightly twisted bell ..The horn... with these problems played great..The guys at MilesAhead Music..do great work...
I have an unlacquered 82z with an awesome mid-age Meyer 6M, joojed by Eric at Saxology in Berkeley. Yamaha Lig. And my lucky (at least year old) Rigotti Gold #3 reed. I've had a King Super 20, a Keilworth, a MKVI, a MKVII, Yanagisawa 991, Yanagisawa 880 and the 82z is better than all of them. Though I still have a soft spot for the MKVI.
Yes! Im buying an yas-82z alto black lacq hopefully
