    Question Joe Jazz

Hey Joe Jazz, If I can personally answer any question you might have I would love too. The SCAMs are real. I talked with a guy from the US that lost 40 grand to an even longer version of the same basic Guardala scam. Guardala even tried to sell him his knowledge of designing Saxes and mouthpieces at 30,000 Euros, but he passed on that.

I want to be clear, if somehow the site is unclear - Dave Guardala is not to be trusted and has defrauded friends and business acquaintances of an estimated 450 grand so far. This is very real and very sad. I'm just trying to get the word out - STAY AWAY FROM GUARDALA! (Or tie him up and call me! I can arrange pick up.)

Yeah, I think the site is slightly confusing. I take it the home page is sort of background to Greg's initial contact with Dave years ago. It's heading includes the words "scams" and "fraud" but that part doesn't say anything about scams. I take it it's just there for background to the whole story.

The scam is described in great detail under the "My Guardala Scam" button.

Greg, you may want to put your name under the home page article to make clear that story is from you and add a paragraph explaining that's it background to the scam and include a link to details of the scam. Just a suggestion.

That's truly a horror story, but I'm confused by reaction of the police. Yes you have grounds to go after him in court, but all kinds of "business disputes" are in fact crimes - if I walked out of a supermarket with an unpaid roll of toilet paper would the police tell the store owner they had to sue me? Guardala has committed fraud and while I can imagine there being an issue of jurisdiction I sure wouldn't let things stop with the lame line those cops gave you. Perhaps you need to drop in on the local District Attorney and see if they can offer any suggestions on which crime agency would take responsible for investigating this case.

At any rate, best wishes to you as you recover from this nightmare.

I have heard crazy rumors about Guardala since the early 90s, but nothing like this. (Sidenote: Did he really live in Dave Liebman's basement for a while?) I hope you get at least some of your money back.
Soprano: Grassi Pro 2000, Morgan 2C, FF Lig.
Alto: Grassi Pro 2000, Morgan 3C, FF Lig.
Tenor: Grassi Pro 2000, Morgan 3C, FF Lig.
Yeah, all my horns are Italian. You got a problem with that?!

It seems by Greg's article that Dave is in Greece---of was it Joe Jazz's burrito swimming in grease...not sure, I'm confused.

Well I guess one benefit of being broke, is not having anything to be scammed out of

Everything aside, I don't for the life of me see what people like about them. Everyone sounds very much alike on them and they're whiney. If you guys want one I'll make it. I'll need twenty orders up front and paid for. Phil

    NO, Phil, NOOOoooooooooooooo!!!!

Why would you make a guardala copy, when you hate them? I hope it doesn't side line the piece you're making for me.

    Phil-
I'll take a couple! Can you modify it so it has a richer, fuller bottom and not so bright on top. I also want to be able to change my tone based on the tune because I play a variety of tonal colors.

Hey, if you guys want one I'll make them. Maybe I'm wrong about them but I just don't know anyone that uses them. They're okay for younger guys that need instant sound but man, they're whiney, buzzy, thin in the upper register, and buzzy. If you want though I'll make um. I guess I'll have to buy a Brecker I and make a mold. Phil

Below is a email I received from Dave.
I was put in touch with Dave by a buyer at Long&McQuade. They were offered the deal and knew Dave on a personal level, business practice did not allow them to do a money transaction. They knew I do large mouthpiece deals and gave me Daves contact information.
It was a sweet deal but I explained to Dave the problems with getting $10,000.00 in cash from the bank without having the RCMP involved. There is a anti terrorist / drug law and all cash over $10,000.00 is tracked.
I still thought it was a real deal so I offered to fly to Germany and do bank transfers and hand the cash to Dave in person. Whats $800.00 airfare when you are passing of $15,000.00CDN with a potential pay out of around $70,000.00US! I told him he could ship the instruments and I would fly back with a suitcase full of mouthpieces!
He ranted that this was not the deal ... I hung up.

I received an email similar to Tonehole's today, from someone in Nigeria... hmmm.... maybe that was Dave Guardala, or perhaps just a copycap.
