    Re: FS: Yanagisawa 9930 alto

Off the market. This horn just plays too well -- I'm going on a mouthpiece search to try and dial things in.

    Re: The Conn micro tuner?

I've owned and played several NW I and II Conns with functioning micro tuners. I've always done the same as mentioned above -- tuner all the way in, mouthpiece fully on, then roll back the tuner...

    Re: FS: Yanagisawa 9930 alto

    Still available.

I am also open to trade+cash for an alto of lesser value.

    Re: FS: Yanagisawa 9930 alto

I played this horn last night with a 6pc R&B horn section. Absolutely effortless player and spot on intonation.

    Re: FS: Yanagisawa 9930 alto

It is a great horn, stunningly great really.

It's just whenever I play it I feel like someone else is playing. I've kept this Yani because it's so amazing, but in the end I have to finally admit...

    Re: FS: Yanagisawa 9930 alto

I would consider a trade for a nice alto of similar value -- late Mark VI, Super 20, etc.

    Re: True Tone or Chu

I personally find the Conn New Wonder I and II keywork more comfortable. And I think the NWI would make a fine classical horn, but the TT would probably be my first choice for 'legit.'

    FS: Yanagisawa 9930 alto

Up for sale is a fantastic playing 9930 alto (with sterling silver neck and body). I bought this horn new in 2007, and it has very, very low mileage on it. There is absolutely no damage, pads are...
  11. Re: Help Needed w/ Yanagisawa S9930 purchase!

I know this is a soprano thread, but this is an absolutely spot-on description of my 9930 alto. Love it!

    Re: Just bought a YAS-52

Agreed, the 52 is an excellent horn and that is an insanely cheap price. I was in the market a couple of years ago and came across one for sale locally for $500. It played very very well, but...

Re: Amateurs — How often do you perform?

I play about 25 gigs per year, mostly paid (but typically very little $$). I'm a regular player in one big band, sub in a couple of others, and play in a sextet doing a mix of original instrumentals...
  14. Re: Three Meyers on trial - which one would you choose?

Keep the one which sounds and feels the best on a gig.

    Re: *PHIL-TONE Solstice PASS-AROUND*

Since I live less than an hour north of Phil-Tone HQ, I was lucky enough to be first on the list for the Solstice pass-around.

First, a bit of context -- I'm primarily an alto player and I play...

Re: FS: altos (Conn, Buescher, Noblet)

I still have the NWI, but I'm hanging on to it for now. I had my tech replace all the upper/lower stack pads and I'm loving the result.

Re: FS: altos (Conn, Buescher, Noblet)

The noblet is definitely not original. I think it looks pretty cool, almost like raku pottery.

Re: FS: altos (Conn, Buescher, Noblet)

I need to move these horns. Questions? More pictures? Offers? Anyone?

If you're at all interested in checking out a NWII alto, this is the one! You won't be disappointed.
