Re: 3rd Bb Overtone is KILLIN' ME!

Oh, yeah. I could do some altissimo a year ago. I realized I was biting too much rather than using my facial muscles. So I stopped altissimo, switched to super soft reeds, killed my muscles until...

I've been practising overtones a lot recently.:compress: I told myself a week of only overtones but...:faceinpalm:
When I first started practising I could play the Bb and F:popcorn:but not the...

    Re: Adjusting Spring Tension Yourself

I always keep rubber bands in my case, incase a spring breaks. I've been adjusting springs since I was 14. It's really pretty easy, minus the risk of breakage.
It is probably better to just buy...
  8. Re: FS: Metal Alto mouthpieces, Ponzol & CE Winds

What did you think of the Silver Shocka??? I'm thinking of trying one some time.
  9. Re: Runyon Quantum any good on Alto??? vs. Smoothbore

    Thanks for your reply!
Your probably right. The main reason I want to try one is because they're suppose to be a lot like Dukoffs. I tryed a couple of Dukoffs a year or two ago and like them,...
  10. Re: Runyon Quantum any good on Alto??? vs. Smoothbore

Are Brilhart Levelairs known to be somewhat consistant like Runyons, Yanas and Vandoren?
  11. Re: Runyon Quantum any good on Alto??? vs. Smoothbore

I looked around online and couldn't find it available with a tooth deck. I guess I'll just get some patches for it if I like it.
  12. Runyon Quantum any good on Alto??? vs. Smoothbore

I play a stock Meyer 6M right now. I have wanted something brighter for a long time but really wanted to master this thing first:banghead:. I hear Quantums are great on tenor but haven't heard much...
  13. Re: Soprano Jody Jazz vs Selmer Super Session, Please listen . . .

I listened to the video a few more times and I definitely like the DV more. You played much more confidently, and I don't mean louder. I think it just depends on the sound you want. Go with you gut.
  14. Re: Soprano Jody Jazz vs Selmer Super Session, Please listen . . .

I have mixed feelings. At first I liked the DV a lot, but I'm starting to lean towards the Selmer. I personaly would go with the DV.

Re: Best professional sax to buy

How long have you been playing? Do you play at all? Soprano, Alto, Tenor? Why the big four? Why do you have "a personal preference towards the Yamaha 875-EX?"?
What works for you is all that...

    Re: Easy and hard instruments?

    I completely agree!
  18. Re: Is emboucher a problem for us late bloomers?

I tryed a bari soft not to long ago. Maybe it was just a bad reed but it played much harder than a soft. Felt like a #2 1/2.

    Re: Just outta curiosity....

I think some players move there jaw towards the body on low notes and vise versa. Pulling your jaw in but leaving your lip in the same place will put more lip touching the reed and help you low...
