Thanks for the comments, I do appreciate it.
Bill, I'm using this clamp-on microphone:...

Thanks for the comments. I enjoyed listening to the last few recordings posted but I don't have any specific advice.
I recorded another tune. I tried to break in a new reed but my sound is still...

Hi, I haven't been here in a while.
I was messing around with Garageband and recorded this.
All Who Are Thirsty
I am using an instrument mic I got really cheap on eBay. It clamps to the...

I bought a used low A Winston bari from PM Woodwind a few of years ago. It plays well. I'm sure the shop set it up as best they could. I mainly play it at home for fun but I've taken it to church a...

The band experience must be good; your tempo and phrasing are very much improved! (since when I was last active here)

Thanks for the encouragement but I'm definitely on the downhill side of clarinet. It used to be my main instrument once upon a time. For this recording I used my student-level mouthpiece and a 2.5...

Thanks for listening! It was just a normal Bb clarinet, which in the clarinet family is the soprano but I guess it's kind of weird to actually call it that like I did. :)

Hi all. I think this is the third or so "I haven't posted here in a while" post in a row from me.
I made a recording a month or so ago, an instrumental cover of "Soon" from Hillsong United.

Hi all, long time no see. On improvisation, I still suck, but the only improvement I've made is by doing it and finding out what does and doesn't work. I never was much of a jazz fan, but I've been...

I am an amateur; played in high school, practice on and off; been on the worship team for almost a year. I've played S, A, T, and B saxes on Sundays.
Our group works off of...
I call that "playing."

Sorry to dredge up an old thread.
I'm looking for a peg that can hold an alto sax for my Hercules DS535B bari stand.
If you look at the Hercules DS536B stand, you'll see it comes with an...

Pretty much what LTB said. The first few bars are played way too straight for the backing and (as far as I know) the general feel of this tune. And don't apologize for the improv, just keep doing it....

Well, ya caught me. I have no sense of pitch to know if it was altissimo or not. :) I just heard the awkward attack and it reminded me of trying to hit altissimo notes. Time for long tones I guess;...

I think Nirvana's "Dumb" would sound good as a multitrack sax recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpGN0RWdJ9c
To be honest it sounds kind of herky-jerky. You could try different delay...

Just a few comments, not much time these days.
Alan -- that was entertaining and I mean that in the best way. :)
Mike -- Keep at it. One thing to work toward is working with the backing a...
Sounds a lot like an Eb clarinet--it's very similar with the single-reed mouthpiece and the cylindrical body. Not sure I'd grant it honorary sax status. :)

Hey Adrian, I was wondering how you were doing with that (I know, new baby and all). I think you have a good start here. I like how the melody meshes with the backing around 3:46-3:49 -- more of that...

Don't worry, if I get time to do a version, I'll pound that bar right into the dirt!
