Back from the Canaries. We have a short four night cruise to Amsterdam and Bruges over New Years. We have a late sailing from Amsterdam after NYE there.

Re: Loree Oboe and English Horn

Price is going to be quite dependent on playing condition, keywork and cosmetics. Pics will help, but can only tell part of the story.

Re: Merlin's Cruise ship gig thread

The guitar player who was MD on one of my previous ships most definitely read. IIRC, he was a Berklee grad. He played classical quite well, as well as using steel string and electric on the gig.

    Re: iPad and Airturn pedals

I've used my iPad with an Airturn pedal quite a lot on ships for dance sets. Indispensable!

Re: Merlin's Cruise ship gig thread

Not on any of the ships I've worked on. It's always alto &/or tenor, clarinet and flute. I've played entire guest entertainer shows that were clarinet only.

In port in Tenerife today. Walked around for about an hour before rediscovering my favourite tapas bar. Won't forget it next time!

It's kind of funny seeing Christmas decorations in 74F weather!

Re: Merlin's Cruise ship gig thread

Back in Toronto. I'm picking up a Hiscox tenor case today, as my next contract is on tenor.

I was thinking about doing up some kind of FAQ that SOTW could pin up for aspiring cruise musicians....
