Second vote for the Selmer cases. I like the fact that the reeds sit on a piece of glass, not plastic so I feel it can be cleaned more reliably.
I guess I don't understand the question. Do you mean a larger horn with the same proportions as an alto? Like if you pointed some kind of Mad Scientist Growth-Ray at an alto and just enlarged it?

I looked at the Bb book in the store and if I recall correctly it goes below low Bb occasionally (not that you couldn't transpose those parts up an octave I suppose).
