  4. FS: Yamaha Custom 4CM Alto Mouthpiece Free to U.S. Student

I have a hard rubber Yamaha Custom 4CM alto mouthpiece .065" tip in great shape that I would like to donate to a U.S. student (no bias intended, I just don't want to pay to ship it internationally)....

  6. Article on the Blue Note in Chicago, 1950s

Here's a long, interesting article from 1989 on the Blue Note jazz club in Chicago in the 1950s. I learned, among other things - if it's really true - that Doris Sydnor lived on Chicago's South Side...

    Bird Breaks the Color Line

This article appeared in The Pittsburgh Courier, November 8, 1947, referencing the Argyle Show Lounge in Chicago.

  9. Re: Taimur joins Northwestern faculty in Fall 2015

You misinterpreted my main point, which is that in most academic fields, a doctorate is a minimum qualification, not an automatic qualification, for a tenured faculty position.

Re: WTB: Tenor RPC Black letters

Re: And down went the Lamberson

Hal Stein died in 2008, if that's what you mean.
  14. [eBay] Re: Make Offer ~ Unclear on the Concept ? !!!!

They MIGHT have extra leverage if the auction is about to end, there have been no bids, and the buyer is eager to sell. So what's so strange about them rolling the dice to see if in fact they do have...

Re: Fs: 4 fantastic s/a/t mouthpieces

    Awesome!
  16. Re: Why is the 5c recommended over the 4c for Tenor?

    Re: Help Identifying a Link

Oops, I saw the USA and then wrote No USA. Anyway, if the font is small I'm pretty sure you've got a Florida USA. I'm sure someone will be along to correct or confirm.

    [Edit] OK, the latter
  20. Re: Yeah, this is a dumb question but I'm asking anyway

I believe that convention has 1 referring to the lowest version of the note in question on the horn, 2 to the octave higher, and so on. E1 would be the bottom line of the treble staff, E2 the top...
