I just came across this Youtube side-by-side comparison. Same tune, same mouthpiece, same reed, same recording equipment, same effects. I think it's a good way to do horn comparisons:
Well they guy looks like he's enjoying the Yani more LOL. And he really isn't playing the tune the same way twice either. It's the same song, sure, but he's just a boppin along having a good time on the second horn. Maybe he prefers the first, but he looks he prefers the second.
Which horn sounds "better"? Pff I dunno. Different but both fine. It's more fun to watch him play the second time though.
