Sorry to be late in getting back to you bud. Man, $650.00 for an R13 was not bad in 1970. Mine was $550.00 in 1968. I've got 2 Mario mpc's and I just had them resurface the top. I've heard they are Chedeville blanks and I wouldn't be surprised. I've got a student who just got one from Roberto's in "as new" condition and it set him back $1000.00. It's a fantastic piece...sounds like cream with that nice bright center on his 10G and, of course, has that little bit of resistance that's so nice and a dark and creamy sound on my Buffet. I'm still looking, and if I find anything I'll let you know. I've been so busy teaching I haven't had time to get on the web.

Thanks for the information about Bob...I heard he was an eccentric guy.

    Take care Marty

Hi Mustang. Sorry I didn't see your message before. Yeah, like you, I've used my Mario mouthpiece for years, for both jazz and classical. I don't much about how he made them, don't know what blank he used. I went to his house a couple of times in North Hollywood--he worked out of his garage. Nice guy, kind of low key. I bought my Buffet R13 there in around 1970 or so. And I guess I bought the mouthpiece shortly afterwards, that same year, at the recommendation of my teacher. I can't remember what I paid for it. I think the R13 was $650 or something, which my Mom (who paid for it) thought was very expensive.
