Just listened to your 'Clifford' piece on soundcloud... I 'do' like your vibrato use here again! Tasty, full at times, but not overused & for my ears just 'kinda' right for your version of the tune 'and' your tone.
Thanks, James. You can't take PMs so I'll post this in public.
Thanks for the help. I did find the Moonlight Jazz Orchestra's booking agent while I was out there (Mike Dzik) and was able to cobble together a trio for the funeral -- although it was a bit dicey there and I was thinking I was going to do it a cappella there for awhile.
I set it up as "Riderless Horse" event. Put an extra stool and music stand next to me with Kurt's treasured flugelhorn on the piano next to where he would have been sitting had he been able to be at the piano -- as opposed to the velvet box on the dais (cremation).
He did refer to himself at NIU (we all went there) in 2006 as the old guy of the group except for one other -- which obviously wasn't you. I have a photo he sent me back then of the NIU Jazz Lab band if you're interested in a copy. Happy to share it with you if you send me an e-mail with your e-mail contact info.
