    Hi there,
It seems I'm having a bit of trouble with PMs, so I hope you don't mind me writing this in Visitor Messages. I'm currently in the market for a tenor saxophone, and I happened to come across your post in this thread: http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showthread.php?132540-Calling-ALL-T.K.-Melody-Saxophone-owners. In your post, you mention that you own a TK, CE, and MACSAX. I just wanted to ask how you felt about the build quality on all these saxophones respectively, as well as your opinion on how they play. I really appreciate your time. Happy New Year!

Please email me at info@martinmods.com. I seem to have difficulty now with Personal Messaging, which is certainly helpful.

    thanks

Hey Eric! Thanks for the add. I saw that you were a fan of Houli saxes. I have a saxophone.com tenor and I really enjoy it a lot. Im anxious to try a few more that I had in mind, but for the most part, i just wanted to stop by and say hi and thanks for adding me as a friend!

Hi Eric, I saw some photos of a black Tenor you have, I think it is a CE. Does the horn have engraving? and did they charge you extra to change the color of the pearls, and is this available on the alpha series. Thanks

Hi Eric, I saw your comment about EC Winds tenor. I'm planning on buying Brushed Nickel, currently out of stock, can give me some info on yours if you can?
    Thanks

Oh man the Dark Vintage is my favorite sax from them, actually from most of Taiwan. Unfortunately new CE Winds are just too expensive for me, which is why I am going for Maxtone. It would cost me $1000 for their most expensive model. SX-63T/ABE including shipping.
You should perhaps check them out, www.maxtone.com.tw

Thanks for all this invaluable information! Yes, I was expecting a bit more from the Link and was kinda disappointed. To be honest I'd think it'd be ok if it was refaced or one of the better pieces, but at my stage in my learning I don't have the time nor financial resources to chase around a refacer. I took a look at the double ring Jazz Drake and that seems very nice, I'd probably give that a try along with Kessler's offerings.

Hmm... I've heard about Drake pieces and thought the ceramic thing was all hype. Perhaps not! What kind of tonal qualities does your Contemporary give you? The site says brighter, with cut when pushed. How are subtones? You see, I recently got an Otto Link STM NY 7 from Music123 and I'm thinking of returning it. I was looking for a husky sound and while my tone is certainly darker and more refined than my Brilhart/Quantum, it isn't exactly husky. Subtones are wonderful but what good are subtones alone? The upper register is a little too smooth and cold for me. Still worse, the thing is terribly reed picky (ONLY Plasticovers work for some reason) and the facing and fit in finish seem kinda shabby, as seen especially in the god awful lig. Does Drake make a husky piece that I've been lusting after? What are his return policies like (condition, shipping, etc?). Most of all, are his pieces consistant?

Hi Eric. Update on the jazz studies thing. It's not happening. Not for the moment anyways. Making money - the need to that is - has come between it, and I.

I did however play with previously mentioned punk band for a short period. Not my thing as it turned out, and so I asked to be excused from any further proceedings.

All else is as it should be though.

Oh, they all are envious. Everyone thinks its beautiful, mostly due to the unique etching and unique color. I've noticed the color can take on many different hues. Odd. And yea, when I played my solo during a recent gig, a few people approached me and told me that I was a reason they stayed for an otherwise mediocre performance (sucky percussionist...) and, the 2nd tenor just started laughing my name after the song was over. Yea. I'm loving this horn, it can do everything!

The Hollywood mouthpiece I got from Phil that I use on tenor is incredible. It's so incredibly versatile, and it doesn't get in the way of me wanting to create the sound that I want on tenor. I went up to Phil's place to try them out, and honestly the consistency between his mouthpieces is really incredible. What I mean is, I tried several 7* Hollywoods and they were so similar you would have sworn they were made by machines, but Phil hand crafts and finishes them. Compared to the Jazz model, which I also tried side by side with the Hollywood, the Jazz was a little too husky for my tastes, and it's definitely darker. The Hollywood is still on the slightly dark side, but can go bright if you want it to. All in all, you can't go wrong with the Hollywood, and it goes great with my Barone Vintage tenor.

Marton. You seem to have a lot going on musically. Jazz studies, WOW. I wish I could pursue music studies. The local college only has music classes during the weekdays in the mornings. I am at work so I can't participate. I still take lessons from a master saxophonist every other Saturday. He studied under Phil Soble. I still have a lot to learn. Keep up the good work. EricM
