Just thought I'd add, I'm very hard-working and obsessive about sax, so I don't mind a size that's harder initially, that's take more time to master, but worth it for a more rich sound with more depth. Love that sensual sound. So, let me know which other mp you also might recommend. I don't feel I've got it quite right with my Brilhart (though maybe that's just me) I think the chamber is quite small.

I had a look at your website Phil and saw that vintage tenor mp. I think that may suit me in the future. Not ready to purchase yet, but do you mail to UAE??

    Hey Phil,
I am a music student in college who has been playing for a couple of years. I was playing on an old YTS 61. I have been saving for a long time for a new pro horn that I could use for school as well as my very busy gigging schedule. I was interested in P Mauriat before someone told me about your horns. All I want to know is what are the old guys at the sax shop as well as my instructor going to say when I bring out the PB Mac 8 I just ordered today? I used to ask advice about saxes and all they would do is list brand/model after brand/model. All of which for almost $4k. Is this truly a pro horn that I am going to be able to use for quite some time? Do you know of any honest disadvantages? Like I said I have already ordered the horn from Mike.

    Hello, Phil
Thank You for the reply on my question about refacing a Beechler Diamond.

I wonder if You could reface/customize my Beechler Diamond m7s, and what would the price be?

I am not a jazz saxophonist, but plays pop, funk, smooth jazz, gospel, r´n´b and sometimes in a bigbands. What I want is a bright, free blowing mouthpiece.
I like playing soft reeds, Vandoren java and ZZ 2,5 are my favourite alto reeds. On tenor I use ZZ 3. Today the 2,5 reed are to stiff on this beechler, could a reface make it more open sounding and free blowing? Is it possible to make the plastic Beechler play/sound almost like a metal mpc? On tenor I play a Guardala MBII, and I would like a mpc that is similar in the way one blow it.
I don´t know what has to bee done, but perhaps give it another facing? Perhaps thinner rails?? Could a higher baffle and bigger chamber make it brighter but less nasal??

    Regards,
    Egil Furre

OMG!!! Shon Saliga, Tenor sax player in the band "rythmcongressband" and person that showed me how to play saxophone when I was 13, hooked me up with a PB8 matte silver Tenor Saxophone. It arrived yesterday. {Michael Crouch is the Bari player in this same said band (I think you know him)} Shon included a Dukoff D9 -- I'm accustom to a Dukoff D7. I lost my yts 61 and my 68 mark vi alto in 2000 and had my yts23 stolen from me in 06. I am totally blown away by this horns' awesome sound and intonation!!! Alas, my lips are hamburger rght now, but I get better each time I pick up the horn! I could babble on, but suffice to say I am blown away by both the quality of your instrument and the magnitude of Shon's generosity!

To be honest I think the best you could do is keep it dry but eventually you might as well accept that it's going to crack unless it's very thick in certain places. I'm making a wooden piece now but we're using a treatment so that it never cracks. Phil

Hi Phil, I happen to read a comment you posted that said you made wooden mouthpieces.I just bought a brancher ebony wood mouthpiece and wondering how to properly take care of it. It cost me a pretty penny and I would be Devastated if it cracked. I've heard of various methods (keep it wet, keep it dry, use olive oil, vegetable oil, mineral oil, I just can't seem to get a Consistent answer. I would appriciate your advice. Thanks in advance.
