Ive just bought a very beautiful old tone king alto saxaphone. Im looking for some historical information on it if anyone can provide some I'd be incredibly grateful! Its at least over 17 years old, as my friends dad bought it 17 years ago secondhand, it was used once and then hasnt been touched...
I just had the opportunity to work on an Amati tenor sax. It was actually engraved with the Jean Baptiest logo with is the house brand for Sam Ash Music. But it was also engraved "Made in Chech Republic". So I went to Amati's web site and looked around. The horn I worked on was a ATS63SG Super...
Anyone played a recent version?
Hey, guys! Does anybody own ABS 64 or has played it? What are your opinions? Im in a market for a new baritone and Im considering every option; but i know Amati's aren't very reputable horns... Any comments?
I am a new member and this is my first post so please be gentle! I just received a new Amati ATS 83P 'Bravour' that I purchased from Interstate Music. I just turned 58 years old, started playing clarinet when I was 10, and began playing alto sax about three years later. I played in a local...
I have a question for anyone who has come across an older Amati horn. I have a chance to score a Super Classic Amati Kraslice tenor from a garage sale in a few weeks for about 200 cash. I have no further info on this horn other than the fact that it is a brass lacquered model with minimal...
I picked this up on Ebay and it(or me, the beginner) produces a great tone. I noticed it plays better with my Berg Larsen 7 than the Babbitt MPC(thanks stitch) it came with. Any light that can be shed on this will be greatly appreciated. ...
Hi folks, I have an opportunity to pick up a mid-90's Amati ATS 22 Tenor, with case and I think a Jody Jazz mouthpiece, in good playable shape, for about $300. About me, I am returning to sax after about 25 years. I've played guitar the whole time and have come to value having good...
Hey ; i am looking for an alto saxophone and i call yesterday to a friend and ask him if he sell a nice horn and he make for me a ofer for 200 dollars i get a Amati classic deluxe made in chechlovskia after a overhaul with a Weltklang metal mouthpiece and Lavoz reeds but thats not the point i...
A $200 C'list find...the guy was moving to Germany and just needed to unload it. It was barely playable when I went to try it, albeit in very good physical condition with teh exception of a bad dent in the side of the bell which was made worse by someone trying to un-dent it themselves, obviously....
just looked at an Amati Kraslice straight sop...sez its vintage. Two-tone horn with serial number 2292. Any one know what year this might actually be?
I purchased a used Amati baritone sax, model ABS 31 on ebay several months ago, but I only got the chance to play it the other day. What a different experience! I used a Rico 2 1/2 reed, and a no name mouthpiece. Contrary to my expectations it was easy to blow, and really enjoyable. Never having...
I just picked up this bari. I am thinking is was made by Amati in the mid 60's from what I can gather from this group. The pads are red and have no resonators, I don't know if they are the original pads. Came with a Brilhart Tonaline mouthpiece. I was wondering about thoughts on the mouthpiece...
Hello! I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on AMATI tenor, around 20 years old, model IV, serial: 948xx? Is this a student, intermediate or pro horn? I could get it really cheap (around 150€), so i wanna know, if it is any good. here is the picutre:
On the bell: Amati (its underlined) Kraslice Made in Czechoslovakia the serial number is 1127XX and it has the last 3 digits of the s/n on neck. Let me know if you need pictures and I'll post them.
On the bell it says: Amati (its underlined) KRASLICE MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA There is also a little engraving going down the front of the bell. S/N is 1127XX and the neck has the last 3 digits of the serial number engraved on it. It goes to low Bb and High F (no high F#)
...that they have been sold under countless stencil names; so I had no problem ordering a C key guard for my ATS-31 project. I ordered one for a Corton (or was it a La Fleur? Or a B&H 400?) and it fits like a glove, including the engraving. And not even expensive. Neat.
I LIKE THIS ONE. Not sure when made but from information i have read here and at Saxpics I would say 1955-1958 Rolled Tone holes G# trill Pearls I like my alto Kohlerts from the 50's as well and glad I finally have a Tenor -- needs a lot of work but plays ok already. Any suggestions as...
Hello there fellow Amatiites (I may have just invented a new species).:D Just bought this off Ebay on a whim and was wondering if anyone could throw some light on what model it might be, I don't have it yet so I can't tell you what the serial number is but the seller hinted it was about 20 years...
Hi I just saw (again) this Amati alto sax. I can't find this on their website so I guess this model isn't made anymore (although it looks very new, but probably just kept this way). It has sort of a matte silver plating (but regular lacquered keys). Is this actually silver plating or something...
Greetings. I own my father's old soprano saxophone, but I dont know a thing about it. I posted this to old forum but not much info came. So, engravings in the bell says "Amati Kraslice Classic Deluxe", so I guess that is it's model. I contacted Czech Amati-Denak-company, wich probably made...
I was perusing several manufacturers web sites today and as I looked over Amati's I noticed that they are planning on releasing a new line of professional saxes, appropriately named "Toneking." I figure most people on this board won't know much, but I wondered if anyone else had heard about this. ...
This weekend I bought a second hand Amati Alto, super classic. Made in the late 80's, I did not expect much. Trying it however revealed a beautiful tone, especially in the high register. Very melancholic, although also rather loud. Took it home, adjusted a few regulating screws (plastic) and it...
Browsing the internet, as one does :) bumped into this Lignatone , which I understand (as someone wrote in another topic) it is an Amati from the '50 (?) . It looked pretty nice, with original , no reflectors red pads (more or less sealing), and with the exception of a horrible hook ring soldered...
Hi all, A little while ago, a beaten up old bari came into my possession for the princely sum of almost nothing - but I can't identify it. The engraving on the bell (which actually, for a beater, is really pretty!) says 'Music Center' (US spelling - I'm in the UK) in a sort of cursive...
First time I've seen an Amati bari with rolled tone holes. Model is Classic Deluxe (ABS 21?); serial number 55769. I'd guess it was made in the 60s; perhaps by Richard Keilwerth?
has anyone ever played amati's pro line of horns? http://www.amati.cz/english/production/instruments/Files/aas/aas_83T.htm and there http://www.amati.cz/english/production/instruments/Files/aas/aas_83P.htm i kinda wanna know if there any good...if they'd be a good idea to spend around 1,500...

What's the word on the AMATI ATS 61? What are the known limitations of this instrument?
AMATI Saxophone A Short History by Dennis Gazarek The history of saxophones and other instruments produced by the predecessors of Amati-Denak is complex, confusing and convoluted. The instrument makers were directly impacted by European wars of the Twentieth Century, Nazi and Soviet...
This is my son playing the Amati at a local contest. Given the fact that he had about 6 weeks to get used to it, i am happy (and jealous). Feedback is always appreciated, if possible positive. Dutchy link to video: http://www.youtube.com/v/M4fmR0KFYq4&hl=nl For all our videos: search in...
35 years ago a tried to learn playing the alto, so my father bought me an old alto. Whatever the reason, the sax with me did not work, and I hated my Amati alto, never to be played again. Time past by and sons were born, both playing sax. Very well. (Good teacher, not me). Both started with...
I purchased an Amati ATS32 Tenor saxophone (Black Lacquer) last Thursday with Woodwind/Brasswind. Has anyone played one of these horns before? I am mainly an alto player (Selmer AS300) but have been wanting to get a tenor for a while now. I was on a budget so I decided to try an Amati. If it...
I'm actually a clarinet/bass clarinet player, but I played alto & tenor sax in high school (about 10 years ago). I now play in the pit orchestra for a community theater and thought I'd buy myself an alto sax so I can double on another instrument (a sax takes up less space than an extra sax...

I am looking to buy a saxophone and I found this item on the Internet so I need to know comment from everyone who has more experience with the saxophone more than me. Could you give the information, please? Thank you so much.
Im in the market for a tenor sax, and Im on a short budget. Im looking at an Amati ATS73. Just wanted to know what people had come across and or what i could expect out of this horn. Basically buying this horn, good move or bad move?
Hello One Year I Search Bari and today i got good offer New Amati Bari saxophone 62S Price 1550 $ what you think about that ?
Hello. I've heard, czech saxs are ones of the best (having in mind the quality and the price) in Europe. I'm planning buying one of them, but I don't know any good czech manufacturer. Can you help me, please? Is here anybody who knows anything about good czech sax? Thank you!
Hi! Does anyone has any idea on the current price of a vintage Amati Toneking produced around 195x? It is identical to Toneking series II (pro model made by JK before acquisition by Amati) except the micro-tuner neck. Besides, does anyone try the Tonekings before and after acquisition of JK by...
I understand that Musica Steyr was in the past made by Amati. However, it's a separate company with actual manufacturing facilities in Austria..........UMI bought the company in 1990. Amati stencils are often nailed down by the bell-body brace from what I've read. This one doesn't have an...
Hello all, I need some help from teh forum. I have exhausted all means of finding more info on this, so hopefully some of you in the know could share your knowledge or experience. I am trying to determine who actually manufactured my newly-acquired baritone sax. It's marked "Lafleur - Made for...
if so, have anything to say about em?
I have an amati tenor classic super with a serial number 82*** which i am trying to find a production date for it. Above the stamper serial number is 40015 or 400/5 which is hand engraved and does this mean anything ? Dave
"Amati saxes are back and better than ever" That's what WWBW say's in there newest catalog anway! Not much said here about Amati. Has anyone tried the 73PQ with the solid silve neck and bell. The $1299 price tag is pretty attractive and so is the horn! What about it's sound! ...
Forum Friends, I'ver decided to give this horn a swing. I'm an advancing intermediate, returning adult player. I have been playing a very admired 1954 Buescher Aristocrat alto. Initial impressions are very good. Intonation is excellent as is ergos / playability, although it will take some...
Would anyone ever consider buying an Amati Classic Tenor? Just wondering? ;)
I sold my King Lemaire on Ebay last week. I guess it was made by some place in Czech in the early 80's. Can someone verify this? Any history on this sax? I know it's a secondary stenciled horn. This was not an SML....
Can anyone estimate an old silver plated Amati Karslice tenor in mint condition thats made in Czechoslovakia ???? Any input will be appreciated !!!!
