My current setup is an SX-90R black nickel alto, diamond series nickel neck, and a ponzol M2, 100 mouthpiece. I don't know exactly how to describe the sound of what I'm looking for. It blends well, fine for playing 2nd alto, but when I slide over to play lead, I feel it really doesn't sit on top...

I am after a powerful, cutting sound with my Superba II alto. I am using a Lakey 4*3 and Rousseau Jazz metal 6, and I don't think either of them really bring out the projection and fluidity that this horn is capable of. Please share your setup.

I am the proud new owner of a Couf Superba 1 (yipee, I hope!) Should arrive in a week or so. It comes with a gig bag, so I will probably be looking for some kind of hard case. Any suggestions for cases (preferably contour style) that will fit. Thanks, Peter

I am wondering what people opinions are on the keilwerth brand.

I heard a rumor Friday (apparently originating from a Keilwerth artist) that Schreiber & Keilwerth Musikinstrumente GmbH has gone belly-up. Something to do with Schreiber kept marketing the E11 after they severed ties with Buffet, so Buffet sued them and won (sounded sketchy though on the details)....

...I just see them so rarely, and clearly Yanagisawa has surpassed Keilwerth in terms of presence in North America. I see a lot more Cannonballs, Antiguas, and P. Mauriats than Keilwerths. Curious about thoughts.

Does the "ST 90" on the Keilwerth saxophones always mean it's a student horn? Or does it mean something else?

Ok, Altissimo is always a bit more difficult on Keilwerths, but I'm getting along pretty well with the whole range - except for that damn Bb. I play a SX90 R Tenor and have tried a lot of different Bb fingerings, including everything that's in the woodwind fingering guide. None of them really works...

From the serial # (27xxx) it seems to be a Series lll from 1957 or 1958. Plastic clothes guard, silver metal guard on bell keys. Has "The Best ..." stamp on the back. Front of the bell has "Julius Keilwerth" engraved in script (longhand) at a downward angle. A crown above that. But no "Tone King"...
