  • Dexter Gordon in Finland 1971

As a young guy I was lucky to meet and photograph Dexter Gordon when he was playing a gig in Finland, Vaasa Youth Festival on 19 June 1971. Dexter is still one of my favorite sax players.

More jazzy pictures from the festival in my blog: http://wp.me/p1jVlh-f2.

i do prefer the "real thing".....

people do pay more for engravings, especially if there is "enhancements"....!

    enjoy....

Re: Anyone know how 1800's saxophone pads were constructed/materials etc?

The ones I have seen from 100 years ago have very soft felt, string tie in the middle and the leather is bunched around the underside. They play like a pillow and are very forgiving of uneven tone...

Re: Japanese saxophones and CONN.....did CONN give Japan their blue-print's....?

I remember that a large US map maker would add a fictitious town in various places to prove the copiers wrong.
Back on thread, I think that trying to prove that a horn was copied is a moot point...

I would just have someone re-engrave the area and do an "enhancement".

I couldn't find information about it on the Francois Louis website. Do you have a webpage link you can post ?
