• Dexter Gordon in Finland 1971

As a young guy I was lucky to meet and photograph Dexter Gordon when he was playing a gig in Finland, Vaasa Youth Festival on 19 June 1971. Dexter is still one of my favorite sax players.

More jazzy pictures from the festival in my blog: http://wp.me/p1jVlh-f2.

Nomad: I doubt that the body material has much, if anything, to do with how a saxophone plays. But beware, this is a sensitive topic and posters will disagree. Much has been posted about this topic -...

Re: Would Jazz Today Be Different If...

Thanks Lamplight for the Sonny Clark info. I don't have any albums with him as leader, but of course have him on other people's albums. And dying at 31 is really awful, so I looked to find out what...

Re: P. Mauriat? Is it too good to be true?

    No offense taken, Rob. Peace.

Density is a giveaway when comparing brass to zinc or aluminum. Brass is more than twice the density of aluminum. Nickel silver, on the other hand, is more dense...

What gear/settings do you use for a "natural sound"

I'm curious to see what others do in live settings with either equipment, eq, compression reverb etc to get as close to a comfortable natural sound as possible, you know, the play by yourseflf in a...

Re: Conn New Wonder Alto without microtuner?

JayePDX I had review lots of photo last few days, and have the similar conclusion that some early conn does not have micro tuner, so thanks for the confirmation.
