    Starting a combo

I'm certainly not the most experienced individual in the world, but I've been playing in a jazz combo of some form or another for the past 5 years, and a bit over a year ago I started up the group I'm currently with, Zarathustra.

The horse is dead or is it?

    Thread Starter: Pete Thomas

At the risk of incurring the wrath of those who don't want another materials discussion, I am offering these comparison soundfiles as one of the most meaningful yet. This is not done with a view to proving anything to anyone, it is for my own interest, and I think some people here will also be...

I did some searches, and I didn't come up with a thread like this, so I hope I'm not duplicating. OK boys and girls, so it's fess up time. Given all the Mark VI threads around, I thought it would be kind of fun to see how many of the 16,000+ SOTW members actually own one or more of the...

What albums are you currently really diggin'?

    Thread Starter: disgruntleddave

A couple of my recent favourites are: Brian Blade Fellowship and Pat Metheny group - Still Life (talking) I find this kind of more modern jazz absolutely inspiring, emotionally, musically, everything. I love 'old' jazz too, but there's something about this kind of music that has been...

I used to think I was sharp but lately I have been feeling flat. Whenever I try to express my emotions, all that comes out is a gurgle. Seems like there's some part of me that's frozen.

..well that didn't work out quite the way I intended. My efforts to edit it didn't work out either.
Was meant to be (as best I can manage with the notes available) the first few bars of "I ain't got nobody (and nobody cares for me)"
      Never mind.

For the past year I have been drinking heavily, so much so I went to the doc to find out why. He examined me closely and proclaimed "it really is quite simple, have you looked at yourself in the mirror?" I did, written across my middle the word "Boosey" !!
