Hi! I have a french altosax named Aiglon. Itīs a stencil but I don't know wich manusfacture it is. I recently saw a picture of a SML and it looked like my Aiglon. It was a bad picture so I'm not sure but I think so. You can see some pictures at the link below. Do you think it's SML who did it?

Those ornate sheet metal keyguards scream early Buffet to me.

Your Aiglon is decidedly NOT an SML stencil. Though SML used ornate bell key guards similar to the ones on your Aiglon, SML used SEPARATE key guards for the low B and Bb bell keys; your Aiglon features a single piece for both. Moreover, by the 1950s, SML was placing their bell keys on the right side (player's perspective) of the bell; those on your Aiglon are on the left side. In addition, from what I can see of the pinky spatula, it looks distinctly different from the trademark SML pinky spatula. These factors, in combination with the Aiglon's other bits, suggest that your horn is closer to a Buffet than to an SML. That said, from what I hear, Buffets are pretty good horns. But to answer your original question, I would second DixieSax and say your Aiglon is a Buffet stencil or something along those lines (though I've no experience with Cousnon or other potentials).

How does it play and sound, though? In the end, this is the key.

Looks like an early Buffet or Evette and Shaefer to me also.
