Does anyone play Yamaha Custom mouthpieces for their soprano - this will be used with an Antigua 1 pc sop?
I'm looking at a 4CM (1.25mm / .04921 inch) which is on par with a Selmer C**.
I'm kinda on a budget and the Selmer seems a little out of reach right now. I've only played on Selmers so I have no comparisons on other good brands. Of other brands (only a couple) i've played i've always had leaks on the mpc/reed facing.
Is this a good alternative to the Selmer?

Steve: Not for me, it isn't. I prefer Selmer pieces over any others at whatever tip opening exists. However, you may find the Yamaha piece works good for you - we are all different.
And, there is more to a mouthpiece than just the tip-opening. I can play different brand pieces with similar openings and they all play differently - length of lay, chamber design, chamber size, etc., etc. . . . it all makes for a good or bad player when combined with one's own embouchure. It is difficult for any of us to tell you what will work for you. DAVE

Gidday Steve,
I have just purchased a Yamaha Custom 6 C from brassandwoodwind.com.au.
It was only about $40 US .
And it has quiet a wide range of tone and tuning .
Never been a fan of metal on Sops

Be aware there are two versions - the Custom and the standard Yamaha mouthpiece - the former come with the Custom horns and are quality ebonite pieces, I have one on order that I saw for a very low price on eBay so I'll tell you what I think. I would say if you are looking at getting one, do get the Custom rather than the other one.

A great choice on a budget are the Rico Royal Metalite and Graftonites. They surprised the hell out of me considering the price. They outplayed 2 Selmer S-80's and two Bari's I tried and I am keeping both of them.

I just got a 4CM Custom and it is very good indeed - I would say every bith the equal of a C* S80, if anything it plays a bit better.

Gidday ,
I have just purchased a Yamaha Custom 6C mouthpiece for my Sop.
(Its a Stencil ) And It totally transformed the horn..
However it seems a bit "too easy " to play .
What I mean by that is that I'll have to go to a harder reed.
The response is quiet linear across the range of the sop .
Finding it hard to get to high D and Altissomo..
But thats probably my playing ...
