Hello.
I just received what I expected to be an Otto Link New York Model metal mpc for tenor. However, I am having my doubts. The box has no marking of NY on it and says it is made in Elkhart, IN. There is also no trace of a NY or New York, NY stamp on the shaft of the mpc itself. The manufacturer code is OLM-404-7*. Can anyone confirm that this is in fact NOT a New York model mouthpiece before I go make a nasty phone call to the person who sold it to me as such?
Thanks!
Josh

Both my box and mouthpiece are clearly stamped NY. Though the only way to be certain would be to measure the specs of the mouthpiece, it sounds as if you have a Standard STM.

All the current production NY version STM's have 'NY' stamped on the shank, on the top side, opposite the facing size stamp. The boxes also say 'NY', by the number stamp on the side. The number should read 'OLM-404-NY-7* (or whatever facing size you have, i think you said 7*). So no, what you have is not a NY. Could have just been an honest mistake by the seller, no?

The manufacturer code is OLM-404-7*.All google search results for that serial point out to modern regular STMs. The modern NY models have a manufacturer code like this OLM-404-NY-7* and should have a NY stamping on top of the shank of the mouthpiece on the opposite side of where the tip opening number's stamped.
Please post pictures if you can : general view, baffle area, stamping.
Finally, bare in mind that depending on who sold you this mouthpiece, he (or they) may deal with dozens of mouthpieces sales so it might just be some handling mistake. I'm sure he/they'll make it right.
Whatever happens, let us know.
Victor.

Hi All
Thanks for all the info. Sounds for pretty much certain that this is in fact not a NY model. I'll give the merchant a call and get thinngs straightened out...very well could be an honest mistake.
Cheers!
