Hey everyone,
Today when I woke up I found my dog in my bedroom and then I saw a big spot on the carpet which also got under my selmer light case and soak part of it, in other words you can say: "THE FREAGGING DOG PEED ON MY SAX!!!".
Although I've cleaned most of it I cant (and wont) use this case again.
Sadly now I need to find a new case for my Yani T880, I'm looking for contoured case for not more then 300 $$$. I heard about the Bam cases and searched about them here but I didn't see anyone mention them for Yani or the T880 in particular.
Meanwhile the sax is in the original Yani case but its not comfortable for me walking around with it. I considered buying selmer flight case but its too expensive for me where I live (Israel).
Please help me out guys.
Thanks,
Dewey.

How much protection and storage do you need?

May I recommend that next time you get a hard shell case? I assume it would work better with a dog.

I've used the Bam Softpack for 4 or 5 years and it's a great case for under $300.

The storage issue is not important as long as I can put in the case all the stuff necessary for me to play (neck strap, mpc, reeds...).
About the protection as much as possible.
Don't get me wrong I'm not careless when it comes to my saxes. I guess someone let my dog in my room while I was asleep otherwise the sax wouldn't have been on the carpet.
Luckily it didn't went through the case but only stained the outside.
I heard the case is good but my main concern is if it fits Yanagisawa saxes good and wont be to big (or small). Eddie did you use it with Yani?

It would be a heck of a lot cheaper to get the case professionally cleaned. There are tons of companies that work on flood or fire damaged items (Service Master for example). Dog pee is an easy one.
Maybe the mere thought that the dog wee'd on the case has put you off it forever, but it really can be cleaned. It's also a good excuse to get a new one anyway!
Good Luck!
Oh, and Gator cases are cheap and rugged...

Its pretty funny how you got exactly what went trough my mind cymru97 :D.
A week before this incident I thought about buying a new case because this one is too big walking around with. Its both the thought of what happened and the excuse that suddenly came up that I've decided to buy a new case.
Please anyone with Yani tenor sax that use a Bam case tell me if it can fit into it.

I recommend Hiscox. The tenor case is a bit ugly if you ask me, but I will literally put my horn in one of those cases and then stand on the case to prove the point to customers who ask what case I like, and I won't do that with any other case on the market (especially BAM cases...), and they fit just about any horn.

Thanks a lot Matt,
After I sew your message I looked the Hiscox up and I think I'll go with your advice.
BTW anyone knows where can I buy Hiscox in Vegas? because my father is going to be there in January and there is no place in Israel that sells it.
thank,
Dewey.

Hiscox cases are made in the UK, you probably have a better chance of getting one where you are (as you are on the right side of the Atlantic, but maybe the wrong side of the Mediterranean).
The cost isn't that much (relatively speaking), but the shipping to the US is OUTRAGIOUS!!!
There are not any (advertised) Hiscox dealers in the US. I have and still am looking for somebody who sells the tenor sax case on this side of the pond.
Once the "middle man" adds his cut, plus tax, the cost is more than what I paid for my sax in the first place!
The alternative to get a cheaper case just isn't worth the risk, but after shelling out the original cost of the sax, and the cost of a complete mechanical overhaul, there is not much left for a good replacement case (as the original case for my horn is basically a wood box with NASTY red velvet in it... No protection what so ever.
It is a dilemma!!

There is a distributor here in the US who also posts on SOTW. Try searching for Hiscox here and you should find the url. Great case, the only case I use with my Mark VI tenor.

If someone else is buying it or if someone else is carrying my case I would get a Hiscox. Since I buy my own cases and carry my own, I buy Gator.
Awful though, I think I'd be looking for a new home for the dog...

I just got one from him yesterday. Read these comments:

just a word about the hiscox. the only padding thats inside the thing is little pillows of the cheapest lowest density foam made for seat cussions and junk. so the horn is not held properly inside it. The way it comes its a damaged upper tube just waiting for a chance to ruin your day.
if you take out all the worthless foam "pillows" and get some proper density ELE case faom, a can of spray glue, and some felt, hiscox can be converted in to a realy good case where your horn wont be smacking around inside it..

Personally, I use a BAM Trekking case for my soprano, light, easy to carry, room for reeds, extra pieces and stuff (I can fit my clarinet case in the outside pocket) and gives great protection. I also use a ProTec from my alto. Again, easy to carry, light with great protection.
I do not like gig bags...too many bad experiences with bent keys...the Bam and Pro-Tec offer as good protection as a wood case, with much less weight, and shoulder straps (handy when hiking to ballrooms through the kitchen entrances with a bunch of instruments) and plenty of room.
