I just purchase a Lawton B8 for soprano. What a great mpc. It is more open (.80) than I am used to, but it plays pretty easily.

It has a very open, round sound with lots of projection. While it is on the bright side, it is not shrill to my ears.

All in all, I think it is probably a keeper. My Selmer Super Session has moved to backup status.

I've got one that Bootman used to own. A bronze 7*B (if I remember right) I love it. Too bad I can't make it sound quite as good as he did. :)

What about the quailty of latest Lawton MPC?
You know what I'm talking. After Mr. Geoff Lawton gone, I'm not sure how's the production. Even the supply is remain no change.

I love my Lawton 6*B tenor mouthpiece. Nice warm tone. Mine's a very old one (15 years or so) so I don't know about the quality of the mouthpieces since Mr. Lawton died.

I wish Lawton offered the soprano pieces in bronze (only alto and tenor). I'm not crazy about stainless steel pieces, though I played a stainless steel Lawton on my bari for a number of years. Very good piece but I like RIAs a little better. I might have to try a stainless steel Lawton on sop.

get your lawton mpcs while you can and the supply is available. when mr.geoff lawton passed on last october in england the business literally went with him. production will cease. this can be verified.

I've got lots of Lawton mpcs for sale. Bari, tenor, alto in all different tip openings & chamber sizes, as well as some Specials & also bronze. However, once they've gone, I won't be able to get any more new ones as they've become very collectable since Goeff died & players & collectors alike are buying them up.
Email me on saxmad@aol.com for a list and/or go to http://uk.msnusers.com/RickOSheasSaxophoneMouthpiecesShop
Good luck, Rick.
