Also, pretty much everyone else that has been listed as well. Depends on what kind of sound you want to hear... there's such a variety (such as what's been listed)
Start plugging some of those names in YouTube, you'll find some golden music.

My alto trinity would be
Bird. Lee Konitz. Eric Dolphy.
And you can trace Bird and Konitz right back to a certain man named Lester :D Then of course Dolphy was very much so rooted in Bird.

very much agree with this!...i think hes the best for that avantgarde, sound and like coltrane he never compromised, in his style just did things the way he wanted to..brilliant virtuoso!
