Has anyone ordered a tenor Brecker II from WW&BW after Sept 30?
Curious because thats the date i ordered mine. Been slow in getting it to me and i spoke to them last week with an estimated time to be first week in November.Today i got an email saying that it wont be coming in till mid December. Ridiculous!!!!!!!! I called up, spoke to a manager who claims it is at the "polisher". Apparently that takes a month and a half???
I figured if anyone had ordered theirs after mine, i could have a leg to stand on when talking to them.

WWBW sucks @$$. I don't order from them anymore.
Musician's Friend has pretty good service.

And I am so looking forward to your review / comparison of this piece.
Can't rush polishing. Nope. Definitely not.

I had always assumed musicians friend and WWBW were the same company. Same reviews on the websites anyway...?

I had a 3 month wait for a Guardala Studio. Every two weeks they pushed the date until I just finally gave up and cancelled the order

You should be getting that soon. ;)

These pieces are popular and WWBW seems to have trouble keeping them in stock, they are generally on back-order. I ordered mine and forgot about it and got it a couple months later. It'll come eventually.

What do they do when polishing? Is it a long process and does WW&B send it out for polishing or Guardala?
Scotty - I'm not picking on you, but I don't know how many times I and others have to post, "don't order back-ordered items or items with the caveat "expect in X or X weeks".
These kind of complaints come up regularly and they come up from as many SOTW regulars who assumedly are around to read these warnings, as from newbies.
If one hasn't an immediate need for something and is willing to forget about it while s/he is waiting, and get on with the rest of their lives in the meantime, by all means order one of these items . . . and then forget about it. If it's something someone wants/needs in a relatively short amount of time and/or is impatient, simply don't do it.
Threads complaining about this and other wwbw mess-ups are abundant and frequent enough for all SOTWers to be aware of and I can't believe that sometimes when folks don't get what they expect from wwbw, that these aren't self-inflicted wounds.
Perhaps your thread will serve as a caution to others. But then, this is SOTW. :D

I've placed orders with wwbw for products that were listed as in stock and then AFTER I placed the order (and they took my money) all of a sudden I get a backorder notice and the product is listed as on backorder.

Only if they use the search function...

Good. But you didn't do it aforehand, right? Furthermore, for those wwbw sceptics, this is just more reason not to order at all.
Only if they use the search function...
LOL! But really, all they have to to is simply look at"Today's Posts", which I assume most do. There is frequently some new thread started or old thread bumped by a frustrated customer.

Not sure what you mean. Wouldn't I have had to?

In 15+ years ive never had a problem with them. Who else carries the Guardala line?

He placed the order before he knew it was back-ordered.

Right, so did I. So why the comment telling people not to order back-ordered items? :?

. . . because many are not getting their orders when promised or not at all?
Isn't that a theme of this thread?
What don't you understand about this? Maybe I can clear it up.

Isn't this clear?
Yes, but that's not the issue. Everywhere else I order online, if an item is listed in stock:
1. I order an in stock item.
2. Money is withdrawn.
3. Item is shipped within 24 hours and I receive it in a few days.
With WWBW what happens is:
1. I order an in stock item.
2. Money is withdrawn.
3. One or more days later I get a backorder notice and the item is listed as backordered.
4. Item finally ships months later or not at all.
So given that, this:
These kind of complaints come up regularly and they come up from as many SOTW regulars who assumedly are around to read these warnings, as from newbies.
If one hasn't an immediate need for something and is willing to forget about it while s/he is waiting, and get on with the rest of their lives in the meantime, by all means order one of these items . . . and then forget about it. If it's something someone wants/needs in a relatively short amount of time and/or is impatient, simply don't do it.
...isn't applicable. There's a big difference between waiting 3 days for an item and waiting for 3 months, especially when that item is listed as in stock when the initial order is placed.
Sorry, this is getting convoluted.
- the Guardala Brecker II's seem to usually be out of stock.
- my assumption is that Scotty ordered an out-of-stock item, and then has been waiting to get it filled and sent off to him.
- hence my reminder/caution to folks against ordering items from wwbw that are out-of-stock.
My initial post to Scotty does not pertain to items ordered which are identified as "in stock" when they are, in fact, not. That's another issue. I hope this clears it up.

Who else carries the Guardala line?I think only WW&BW (Music123, Musician's Freind) has the LTs they are selling. They get them made exclusively for them.
PMS in Europe gets similar LTs made:
http://www.pms-music.de/Mundstucke/Tenormundstucke/Dave_Guardala_Mouthpieces/dave_guardala_mouthpieces.html
But several of the PMS DGs vary from the original DGs in design. They are similar quality, just different. They also offer "handmade" models that are close to the original DG handmades (for mo' $).
In case you do not know, the original DG company has no involvement in either of these make/sell operations. There is no central DG company making these mouthpieces and selling them through distributors.

Ahh, okay. The bolded part in the above quote was what I was addressing.

I'm still waiting for my Strathon Adjustatone to arrive. IT's only been five years since I put in the order at WWBW.

The clip shows you ( in your Addidas t shirt) on stage at the Asbury Park Blues Festival
... and you smoke.
Although, I wish you were way up in the mix. :)

Phil,
I forgot i had posted that. Thank you very much for the compliment; it means alot.
I am in close contact with WW&B and i am not taking this matter lying down. I should be talking to the supervisor tomorrow.
Im also recommending that they list 2-3 months for the Breckers instead of 2-3 weeks. It cant be legal if no one is getting their pieces that quickly. Theyve been cool thus far and i know they are talking to their supplier as well. We shall see.

I have had horrible waits with WWBW. I ordered a Buffet Chadish barrel for clarinet and it took 6 months to get it (was in stock when i ordered). Later, I ordered a silver Selmer tenor neck and had to cancel the order after almost 7 months!! Ended up getting a silver Oleg neck instead from Midwest Musical Imports (www.mmimports.com). Anyways, I avoid ordering from WWBW now, as are a growing number of people. Hope you get the mouthpeice soon. I got an MBII from WWBW a couple years ago. Good piece, but I ended up buying a handmade later anyhow.
