Hi! ok so i just got my soprano about a week ago, and im planning on playing it in our marching band soon. Thing is, the lyre mount is a screw in type deal, not a square slot. does anyone know where i can find a lyre to fit? also was thinking a bell mount lyre might work, but is pretty far away to see clearly. any ideas?

yeah thats actually what i thought when i was talking to my director about it...sopranos are not usually marching band instruments. anyway our upper register is a little lacking appearently, so right now ill be helping out the clarinets and trumpets with some of their parts up high.

our marching band is just weird... we have like one person who can actually play the piccolo, and two who can really play the flute well. the rest of the section is mildly unintelligent people who struggle to march in step and breath at the same time. it doesnt work well.

I have a screw mount on the back of the instrument near the thumbrest (it's a Heimer so maybe yours is different). I had to have a lyre specially made. By "specially made" I mean the music store guy took a lyre with a long straight stem (maybe it was for a brass instrument or something) and bent it so that it wraps around the instrument body and comes out front.
