Hi

I live in France and just purchased a SML Soprano, waiting to receive it in the next 48H.
Design is exactly the same as Revd's pics I could find on the web, but serial number points definetely to a Gold Medal Mark I, early 1961 (170XX).

This sax needs restoration and of course I wonder what kind of pads to purchase.
Before answering little guidelines :
- I am a not a professional saxplayer (so speak to me slowly, sorry...)
- I don't want it to cost me an eye (already sold my liver to buy the sax...)
- I like my saxophones with a mellow sound
- I want to respect the natural sound of this instrument as much as possible
- I plan to buy them on www.musicmedic.com (is it a good choice ?)

I know this sax doesn't have resos on the pads originally. what impact would those have on the sound?

If the original pads are not in too bad shape, are they worth salvaging? and how?

As a parallel matter of reflexion, I wonder if mixing different kind of pads is something that can be done (to counteract for example one specific note that would be to bright). Theorically speaking, of course, I just wonder.

There is the original mouthpiece, but I have no idea yet what kind it is. Any recommendation for a new one (I have a crush on vandorens and remember I am poor now...) ?

Any other suggestions is welcome.

Thanks in advance
