I haven't posted here in a LONG time, but I could really use some suggestions, which you are all quite good at.

For a while I played a Yamaha YBS-52 with a Meyer 6M and a BARI medium plastic reed. I really liked it, except I always thought I could go bigger on the tip opening, say 7 or 8.

Now I'm out of high school, and in my university pep band. I'm using a Mark VI now that's quite similar to the Yamaha, and I was wondering, does anyone think a Meyer 7M could do ok on it? I haven't been able to experiment on bari in quite some time, so help is appreciated. I was thinking about a Link HR, but the ones I've tried were stuffy, even at 6-7.

I think a Link sound on bari would get lost in a pep band and most other bands too. A Meyer would be better, but I would got for something with more baffle in it.

Maybe a Vandoren Piece? I'm playing on a B75 which is probably too much, but I tried a BL4 and thought it had a lot of projection - also maybe a B35. The BL4 had a bullet chamber similar to the B75.

Find a Rico Metalite. Perfect for a pep band.
