I've been using a Rico Royal mpc, I think B7 for almost a year now, and I get a pretty good sound out of it using LaVoz mh reeds. They run about $20, but beware, they don't seem to work w/ Selmer baris well. Exaggerates pitch problems in my experience.

Rico Graphtonite (still being made) and Metalite (no longer being made) are very good mouthpieces. They are every bit as good as more $ pieces. Try one or two for yourself and decide.

I've been using one for over 2 years now on my Selmer Mark VI. Works great. No problems with tuning at all. Gives me extra projection compared to the Berg Larson I'd been using, and I find the sound very "shapeable" to a variety of settings....From rock to jazz. I got turned onto it because my tech. suggested it. Love the sound...It replaced all my expensive mouthpieces.

I'll put in the good word for the HR Hite artist mouthpiece. I play one on the school's Yamaha Bari and my own Yani 901 bari. It is a very versatile, all-around piece for those looking for just one mpc. It is pretty small (like a metal mpc), feels comfortable, and has a soft bite plate. It's handcrafted and I have heard that they are consistant in quality--but I have only tried the one. I got mine at Weiner Music for $80 and it is $100 at wwbw. It comes with good lig and cap, too. It's a great value.

Care to expand on that a bit? What exactly do you not like about it?

Keep an eye on my ebay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3705656095&ssPageName= ADME:B:LC:US:1

It ends in 3 days and you may be able to get 2 mouthpieces to try at a very reasonable rate.
