A few months ago there were a couple of pics of Bergonzi's Chu, that clearly showed some of the keywork modifications. I'm particularly interested in seeing how the Bis key and the octave thumb rest were reworked. Anyone know where to find any pics of this or other similarly modified Chus.
I have a minty Pan stencil that I've been using as my practice horn and lately, I can't put her down!...

This thread may be a little help with modified Conns.

Thanks Saxland, but that's mostly about James Carter's "remanufactured" Conn.

You won't find any more thoroughly modified Chu than this one at Tenor Madness (http://tenormadness.com/product_detail.php?product_id=547). Incredible work--I'd love to add it to my collection.
Here's just a taste:

Again a beautiful and marvelous example of a tricked out Chu. However, I'm not looking to make a no-expense spared, re-engineered Conn.

When the pics that I refer to were posted, Bergonzi's Chu was for sale. The pics showed that it had some relatively minor keywork mods; mods that i'll probably do to my horn. In particular, the octave key thumb rest and an added-on touch to raise the height as well as the diameter of the bis key. It also had epoxy risers on the palm keys and an epoxy stop on the side keys These weren't "high zoot" mods but i'd expect they were well proven and quite functional. I just want to see what worked for him. Also, I'd like to see pics of other similar lightly modified Chus before I start on mine.

You might want to contact Les at Saxoasis. He plays a 10M and lists a few changes he makes here to Conns.

The thumb rest and epoxy bis key extension are standard fare here at saxoasis.com. I usually add them to overhauls for no extra charge. Same for the palm key risers, if the customer wants them.
I like to use a Selmer plastic LH thumb rest over the thumb pearl. I cut it so it fits without altering the original character of the horn.

Hey Les, Thanks for that reply. I checked out your site and decided that i would call or stop in at sometime in the future for more info. However, I read somewhere that you're no longer in the Boston area...?
