I've been struggling to find the right reeds for my bari playing as of late. I've gone through 2 boxes of Vandoren ZZ 3s with only one or two good reeds to speak of, and they haven't lasted very long. I was hoping someone might have any suggestions on what's worked for them. I play a Yani 901 and a Rousseau JDX 6 with a Vandoren Eddie Daniels if that makes any difference.

For me the ZZ´s never worked on bari. I´m now using rico select 3s or plasticover with much better results.

Have you ever thought about trying a synthetic reed?

I play a JDX 7 on a cannonball bari and use the fibercell #3. They are not all created equal so buy a hand full and go from there. I to have noticed that the ZZ and Jazz Select have been very inconstant as of late.

I play a JDX 6 on Bari too. I find that the Lavoz (I use the size MedHard) and the Legere synthetic reeds work best for me...

I currently play on ZZ for bari, but I'm going to be giving Fibracell a shot, the prices are just too crazy for 5 reeds, especially when odds are 2-3 will be below par. If you check the bari set up thread, there are a lot of guys playing them.

I have played BARI synthetics, but I was never happy with the tone. I'm convinced that kept me out of all-state jazz band as a sophomore. I'll give some of these a try. thanks for the suggestions.
