I have been using plasticovers on my berg for a while now, and like them, except for the painfuly bright upper register. I slapped a ZZ 2 on it today, and the upper register sings and it plays better, except f0or the lower register. I love La Voz on alto, but not as much on tenor. I'm looking for a cane reed that has a similar sound to the plassticovers but still plays like the ZZs in the high register.

"Painfully bright upper register . . ." Isn't that also called projection? :D

Sorry, not much help here but Plasticovers have always struck me as being similar to coated Rico Royals. I don't play Royals or Bergs though I do play Plasticovers and other cane reeds. I remember trying Alexander Superials quite a while ago on alto and thought they compared well with Plasticovers in terms of liveliness. Good luck in your search.

I've been using plasticovers on my berg for thel ast year or so and have just gone back to a mixed bag of Javas and V16s... they work well for me and I've certainly not compromised the power of plasticovers....
