Usually, I have to put my lig REALLY low on my mpc to make it not cover the filed part of a filed reed. Would it matter if the lig covers the filed part? What does the file even do?

Filing changes the response of the reed a bit, especially at lower frequencies.
I'm trying to figure out why you feel the lig is so far down. If the lig is covering the center of the un-beveled part of the reed, it is well-placed. Why does it have to be so far forward?

Come to think of it.....does anything really matter?

Not if you don't mind.

Doesn't really matter. But if it covered the filed part and put pressure on it, wouldn't it eliminate the whole point of the file?

Try it both ways and let us know.

My ears aren't so good at telling the difference. Who wants to try?;)

If you can't tell the difference, why does it matter?
