Edit: Thanks to hornimprovement's note in another thread that went into some features, and the "Alto" page at www.unisonsax.com, I'm calling this one a 5002L. I don't have the horn in hand, but I remember it having a black plastic thumbrest -- and the 5002L model is the only one on the page with a plastic instead of metal thumbrest.
But if anyone knows some *other* way of telling them apart besides looking at construction or thumbrests, let me know, pls?
OK, I'm stumped.
On a Unison alto, where is the model number/model ID mark? Three different people (including me) couldn't find any identifying marks other than the serial number and the small Unison logo on the bell. And no, it's not inscribed in the logo that we can tell.
I know from poking around in messages here that there are several models, I'd written them down and I was fully prepared to find an itty-bitty inscription of "5002L" or "SG300" or somewhere.
The seller had no idea. He was sort of hoping one of us would find where it said S300$$$ so he could up his asking price ;)
So what would we look for in terms of other features, keys, placement, etc?
Don't make me resort to going back and taking pictures. The sound is lovely, and I've got some semi-found money burning a hole in my pocket.
