Anyone know anything about these? I know a guy getting rid of one, thought I might add it to my toy box. It'd be a first soprano for me - I've always played alto. Don't want to spend too much on a "toy", and that's really all I'm looking for, but at the same time I don't like to buy junk.

Any input is appreciated!

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I recall the Evette brand is a lower line of Buffet . . . and that it could be Taiwanese or Chinese, but I could be mistaken.

At any rate, I think price has a lot to do with it - for your "toy" purposes. If I was looking to buy a good-but-cheap sop for learning purposes, I'd look at new Antiguas (I looked - and bought). But if a friend is giving away an Evette sop (at least not charging too much), it may not hurt to buy it if it plays - and many cheap Taiwanese/Chinese sops don't - or they play so poorly as to discouarge a novice sop player. sSnce B&H now has Buffet (Evette) and Keilwerth, the newer ones may be K's. Buffet and Evette did build their own horns up until the 80s, but after that, I would be sure to compare it to a horn from china first. I assume that you can get a play test.
