Been an active saxophonist for years, but primarily a clarinetist, and my stable of instruments includes a Buffet R13 clarinet, a Mk VII alto, a King super 20 tenor (with an eye on a B&S for a different sound with my jazz combo) and a questionable linage, but spectacular sounding Jean Barre Artiste bari (only clue I have is that the backside of the G# waffle is stamped "Made in Germany, but not built at all like a friend's modern Keilwerth")
I'm getting some calls for soprano recently, and I'm also interested in doing some soprano doubling with my dixieland combo. Not enough playing to justify in my budget a real high end horn, but after reading these forums for a few days, I'm just about settled on a Kessler Custom red brass soprano. You can expect to hear from me before the end of the year (as in when my instrument fund box fills up to the point that I can spend it again)
I can't believe in all these years of playing I never even thought to look for a forum like this. I've learned a lot - even in just a few days.

Dave is a great dealer and is always a pleasure to deal with.
Welcome aboard! And yes . . . the Kesslers (Dave and Chuck) are absolutely great to talk with and do business with. I've done both!!

I, too, have been having wanton thoughts about a Kessler soprano. Since I have never played a soprano and really have no need for another horn price and quality are important. I hate having to buy something else because I did not spend the right money for the right thing the first time.
I can get a Selmer Series III soprano for about $2,800 right now but that is about four times more than one of Kessler Customs or even a good Antigua setup. I'll be looking forward to hearing your reports on your new horn and hope that you will be able to put up a sound clip for folks like me to hear.
For that matter, if any others have sound clip of their Kessler sopranos to share, please let me know where to listen in.

Welcome to SoTW! I can't speak to the red brass line from Kesslers but my Custom Deluxe is one sweet horn! Plus, I'll reiterate a what matsuo said, the Kessler's are a pleasure to do business with. Very patient to answer my questions and no sales pressure at all. You won't go wrong. Then of course, there are a lot of SoTW folks that are good to do business with should you decide to go another route to sop. The Board does have a way of keeping folks accountable.
Cheers!

Kessler & Sons always receive two hardy thumbs up from me, SOTW affiliation or not. I've been 100% satisfied in every way with them.

I could'nt agree more. I bought a T991 and later an A901 from Kessler Music. I like how they take their time with you when you are asking them a thousand questions about their products. Everyone at their store is friendly and polite. My emails are always answered promptly. The personal touch they put in their service really makes a difference. Chuck personally signs his business card stating that the horn was play tested and writes "Enjoy". I may sound like a commercial but no one puts that personal attention in their Business anymore. I just ordered another horn from Dave yesterday. It is always a pleasure doing business with him. I should have my Kessler Custom Handmade RedBrass Tenor in a few days. Can't wait. EricM
I bought a SX-90 Keilwerth black nickel tenor from them. Great saxophone!!!! Even greater people!!!! Dave and Chuck are quite knowlegeable and most helpful!!!!!
